In The Spotlight

One of our songs and one of the Cats

Song: Freakshow

The midnight hour has sounded

It isn’t safe stay out of sight

The shadows reach your doorway

Only the freaks come out at night

You can hear their voices

Hear them laughing in the rain

But when you turn to find them

They’ve disappeared from view again

CHORUS

But I know yes I know

Na na nye na na nye na nye

The freaks are on show

Na na na na na na nye nye na nye nye nye

Stalking every field and footpath

Anywhere the people pass

Searching faces for a weakness

A likely victim comes at last

Being nasty comes so easy

It’s no problem at all

Intimidating strangers

When you’re socially deformed

CHORUS

You drink the blood of a Ghoulardi

As the TV keeps your gaze

You sit there fat and sleepy

Stuffed with beer and takeaways

You hear the banshees howling

At the hunchbacks broken heart

But while you sit there smiling

The TV starts to laugh

CHORUS

About The Song

A song from the golden era of indie rock when the Flashing Blades were in their pomp.

Originally written by Richie Hester but with lyrics for two verses contributed by the Lagendary Late Donny Elvis Brothers, Dave and Giles Late-Donny-Elvis

Written after being inspired by watching scenes from two great film performances in quick succession:  Vncent Price's satanic compere in "The Monster Club" and Orson Welles lurking in the shadows in "The Third Man"

Revised, refined and revamped by Herding Cats with Phantom Of The Opera style keyboards courtesy of Cool Cat Ashley Bremner, funky bass solo courtesy of Cool Cat Mike Bowles
